CUSTOM  MEAT PROCESSING

Glenn Probst has owned and operated this family business with pride and a strong commitment to create a positive change. He hopes to inspire farms and families to make healthy choices about their food. Home Meat Service has strived to provide a clean, safe, and quality operation. We process Beef, Buffalo, Pork, Lamb, and Goat. We also process wild game such as elk, venison, moose, bear, and cougar. Glenn is this first to say that he could not have accomplished this without the help and support of family, local farmers and our loyal customers.

CUSTOM slaughter

Home Meat Service offers custom on site slaughtering. HMS is dedicated to working with local farmers and their customers. Since 1960, our goal is to provide the best service possible at an affordable cost. Please note all prices are subject to change. Please call us at 360-426-1643 a week prior to slaughter, cutting, and wrapping to confirm pricing.

CUSTOM BEEF PROCESSING

Depending on the hanging weight of the beef carcass, it will hang about 2 days for every 100 pounds. We are diligently looking at them daily to determine when they are ready for processing to yield the best results for our customers.

Beef purchasing options are whole, half or quarter.

If you purchase a quarter of a beef, it is a classic cut only. This assures that both parties are getting a even distribution of all cuts. Both parties will get a quarter of the front and hind quarter.

CUSTOM PROCESSING OF LAMBS AND GOATS

If you are purchasing a lamb or goat, they do not require a hanging time for aging. The animal will be processed and ready for pick up within a week of the animals arrival at Home Meat Service.

Lamb or Goat carcasses can be cut into leg roasts, steaks, chops, shanks, stew or ground.  We would be happy to further customize your meat at an additional charge. Common additional charges are for deboning the legs or shoulders.

CUSTOM PORK PROCESSING

If you are purchasing half a pig, they do not require a hanging time for aging,  so the fresh meat is usually ready for pick up with in a week of the animals’ arrival at Home Meat Service.

smoked and CURED PORK OPTIONS

We do a in-house old fashioned alder smoke. The process takes a extra 2.5 to 3 weeks but we believe it’s worth the wait and know you will too.

You can choose to have your pork chops smoked, or Canadian bacon from the loin. Shoulder bacon is a possibllity from the shoulder and jowl bacon is a possibility from the jowls. Legs can be smoked for hams, hocks, and bellies into bacon.

Because of the 2 ½ to 3 week time frame, we unfortunately cannot hold the fresh meat until the cured meats are ready for pick up, due to our high volume of processing.

WILD GAME PROCESSING

We also process wild game including Elk, Venison, Moose, Bear and cougar.

When you bring in wild game for processing, it needs to be field dressed and free from dirt and hair. It is very important that you bring in the animal as soon as possible after it has been harvested, so that it can go into the cooler. Cooling the animal is a very important part of the processing. You have worked hard to get the animal and we want you to have the best possible product.

The tag needs to be with the animal, and you will need to fill out all the information as regulated by Washington State Fish and Game Department.

At that time we will go over cutting instructions for processing your animal.

WILD GAME CUSTOM SMOKED SAUSAGE

We need 20 pounds of your meat, and we use 5 pounds of pork to make a minimum 25 pound batch.

We believe that when having your Wild Game meats smoked, you should get back only your own game. Therefore, we single batch using only your meat. Because of single batching, the turnaround time can be slightly longer, but we believe that you will be happy with the end product and knowing that it is only your meat.

If you have butchered your own animal, but need us to make smoked sausage, breakfast sausage, or grind and wrap your burgers, we would be happy to do that as well.

We have about 17 different varieties that we can do with wild game.
